Revealing your true self (physically or mentally) may feel scary, or it may feel liberating. That’s exactly why we are offering this opportunity to gather with girls and women like you, who own different levels of confidence about their looks.
We all know a girl or woman who appears beautiful to us – regardless of her clothing, cosmetics, or body type – because she is friendly, kind, and smiles a lot. Some of us already know that we look great without being all “made up”, and some of us believe that we “need” makeup before leaving the house. I am offering this event so you have a few hours when you feel amazing, fun, cared about, beautiful, and empowered as your natural-looking self. No makeup. No fancy hairstyle. No stylish clothes.
At our Photoshoot, we will gather as a group of girls and women who want to feel more confident about our bodies and our faces. We will take both candid and posed group photographs. Our goal is to gather together, laugh together, be vulnerable together, support each other, and grow a little more confident together.
Your group photos will only be shared if you decide to allow them to be shared. You can have your own copy of your photos if you like. Positive4Girls is always a safe place for you, where you are empowered with the choices you make for yourself.
This event is free for all girls and women. Bring your family, friends, coworkers, book club, Bible study group, and anyone you would have fun with! Donations are accepted and optional, and will be used to continue the work of Positive4Girls workshops and events.
Did you know?**
  • Low self-esteem is a thinking disorder in which an individual views him/herself as inadequate, unlovable, and/or incompetent. Once formed, this negative view permeates every thought, producing faulty assumptions and ongoing self-defeating behavior.
  • 44% of high school girls are attempting to lose weight.
  • Over 70% of girls age 15 to 17 avoid normal daily activities, such as attending school, when they feel bad about their looks.
  • 75% of girls with low self-esteem reported engaging in negative activities like cutting, bullying, smoking, drinking, or disordered eating.
  • Teen girls that have a negative view of themselves are 4 times more likely to take part in activities with boys that they’ve ended up regretting later.
  • The top wish among all teen girls is for their parents to communicate better with them. This includes frequent and more open conversations.
  • 7 in 10 girls believe that they are not good enough or don’t measure up in some way, including their looks, performance in school and relationships with friends and family members.
  • A girl’s self-esteem is more strongly related to how she views her own body shape and body weight, than how much she actually weighs.

November 1, 2016 “Get To Know Positive4Girls”

Location:  Key Peninsula Civic Center, 17010 S. Vaughn Rd., KPN, Vaughn WA 98394

Time: 3:15pm-5:15pm

Registration Fee: $40 in advance, $45 at the door (includes snack, P4G wristband, P4G journal)

Wondering what Positive4Girls is all about? Here’s your chance to get to know us, our purpose, our programs, and our outreach opportunities.

The main purpose behind Positive4Girls, LLC is to light the way for teen and pre-teen girls to find empowerment within themselves. We focus on kindness, strength, and confidence. We want all girls to learn skills to gain confidence and make positive choices, learn how to set and achieve goals, and learn to like themselves just the way they are.

We will challenge the impressions delivered by media, the messages delivered to girls in today’s society, and each individual’s self-imposed limits.

We will stretch beyond what girls think they can do and show them that it’s okay to take safe risks, grow in new ways, and learn new things about themselves.

What to bring: Just yourself and a positive attitude!

November 5, 2016 “Love Your Body”

Location:  Key Peninsula Civic Center, 17010 S. Vaughn Rd., KPN, Vaughn WA 98394

Time: 10:00am-2:00pm

Registration Fee: $70 in advance, $75 at the door (includes lunch, P4G wristband, P4G journal *if this is your first workshop*)

Have you ever looked at magazine models, actresses, or other girls’ social media posts and compared yourself to them? Do you sometimes (or often) feel like you aren’t as pretty or as fit or as “perfect” as those women and girls? Maybe you wish you had her hair, her body, her facial features, etc? Have you ever typed  #goals  in the comments?

In this workshop, we will look at facts about the media messages that pervade our culture and – whether we realize it or not – guide the choices we make about ourselves and others.

Then we will dig deeper into how we can challenge the messages delivered to girls in today’s society and develop strategies to identify and break down each individual’s self-imposed limits.

The goal is to leave this workshop feeling more confident, more beautiful, and more empowered to like yourself!

What to bring, if you have them:

  • A baby/childhood photo of yourself that you love!
  • Magazines with pictures of “beautiful” models, actresses, etc.
  • Screenshots of social media photos of girls you think are “beautiful”.
  • Your Positive4Girls Journal that you received at the November 1 workshop. (If you didn’t attend, don’t worry! You’ll get a journal at this workshop.)

**Download registration form below and scan/email or bring to the workshop.**
